Welcome to Sam and Bill’s Hair Design. Sandy and I would like to extend an invitation for you to visit our hair salon in Raleigh and experience what others have been enjoying for more than 50 years.We have a range of customers from young to experienced and singles to families. Our friendly and unique staff of barbers and stylists utilize their ongoing education to bring you the latest techniques in hair designs.
Our Raleigh hair salon, a charming 90 year-old restored home, has a warm and inviting atmosphere featuring hardwood floors, fireplaces, and a coffee bar for your comfort. Conveniently located beside The Village District in the heart of Raleigh with easy access to downtown Raleigh, inside the beltline, Hillsborough Street, NC State University, The Village District, and Crabtree Valley.
Meet The Owners
Greg & Sandy
Sammy Giddens, Founder
Sammy retired in 2007 to his farm in Sampson County where he and his wife, Nida, enjoy raising and training dogs for field competitions. He stops by the salon occasionally to check on us and to enjoy a good meal in town.
Billy Turner, Founder
Billy retired in 2003 to a golf community in Myrtle Beach SC. He has remained friends with many of his clients and has since returned to Raleigh to be closer to family.
Biography
We’ve been turning heads in the Triangle for 50 years.
Sam and Bills Hair Design is a thriving business in the heart of NCSU, The Village District and downtown Raleigh area.

Phase 1 Hillsborough st. renovations complete
2007
Sammy retires to his farm in Newton Grove to work with his dogs and horses.
2003
Billy retires and moves to Myrtle Beach to work on his golf game. Sandy and Greg take ownership and change the name to Sam and Bills Hair Design Inc.
1982
Sammy and Billy hire their first female cosmetologist – Mai Mclean.
1981
Sammy and Billy secured the house at 109 Oberlin Rd. and begin renovations to accommodate 9 workstations and Lobby area for a new hair salon
1969
Sam Giddens and Billy Turner formed a partnership named Sam and Bills Place. The original shop sat at 1902 Hillsborough St. with 4 chairs and 4 Barbers.
